Geoffrey G. Brown Sr. of East Moriches died on May 23. He was 68. Mr. Brown was born on June 14, 1951 in Riverhead to Henry and Eva Brown. He attended East Moriches Elementary and Westhampton Beach High School, and he worked for Chesterfield Associates for over 30 years in the construction field, where they nicknamed him “B-Ho” for the backhoe that he expertly operated before retiring. Nicoletta “Nicky” Gioia Mitchell died of natural causes at her home in Water Mill on May 22. She was 88. Ms. Mitchell was born in Florence, Italy, in 1932 and grew up in Italy during World War ll. After the war, she lived in Germany and Belgium before moving to the United States in 1976, when she married Craig Mitchell. She was well known for her landscapes and seascapes and locally for her beautiful paintings of the East End of Long Island. She exhibited throughout her life in Europe, Canada, and the United States. QUOGUE — Issac Santos, 20, of New York City turned himself in to Quogue Village Police on May 29, taking responsibility for an event that occurred four days earlier. On May 24 at 12:30 a.m., police said, Mr. Santos was pulled over on Jessup Avenue for making an unlawful U-turn. He stopped, but then fled the scene, crashing into a tree a short distance away, then jumping from the car. A search took place, but was fruitless, according to police.
