I write in reference to an article published by 27east.com dated December 6 [“Southampton Village Ethics Board Finds Trustee Robin Brown Violated Code With Attendance at Fundraisers”], regarding a decision by the Southampton Village Ethics Board erroneously finding that I violated the village’s code of ethics by attending two fundraisers. I recently attended a Metropolitan Opera event at which a friend of mine was an honoree for her 90th birthday, and a fundraiser hosted by the Peconic Baykeeper. A 67-year-old hiker who got separated from his group in the Pine Barrens near Manorville was located after a massive emergency response and hours of searching on Monday, December 9. The man, who is from Staten Island, was reported missing at about 2:30 p.m. by friends who had been with him at Manorville Hills County Park that morning.
