A play (that’s been running too long): “Unethical, Not Illegal.”
Cast: Billy, a young boy, and his mom.
Scene One: A conversation at the dinner table, anywhere in America. (The curtain opens.)
Billy: Mommy, my friend Johnny said it’s okay to lie and cheat, to call other people bad names, to make fun of people who are different from us, to be mean to girls, and to be a big, loud bully who gets away with things you have always taught me were wrong.
Mom: Why does Johnny think that behavior is okay?
Billy: He said because that is what the president does, and if it’s okay for him, then it’s okay for everyone. Is that true, Mommy?
(Mom puts her head in her hands. The curtain closes.)
