Patricia Hamilton Smith of Manhattan died at her daughter’s home in Westhampton Beach on May 31, with her family by her side. She was 83.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard B. Smith, and is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Finkle Sans and husband Stephen, and three grandchildren, Victoria, Caroline and Catherine, a brother, Kenneth Hamilton of Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as six stepdaughters and one stepson, Eliza, Leslie, Landis, Betsy, Bonnie, Debbie and Tom, two nephews, one niece, and 10 step-grandchildren.
She was raised in New York City, attending Our Lady of Mercy Academy and later Barnard College. She studied acting and had a small television career on “The Eddy Duchin Show” and appearing on “What’s My Line?” and “To Tell the Truth”. She later became a model and designer for Betty Carol of Mam’Selle before marrying and becoming a mother.
She loved to travel, to read biographies, and philosophy, the classics, opera, ballet, theater, Westhampton, and her family. Her favorite city besides New York was Paris.
A funeral service was held at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach, followed by burial at Westhampton Cemetery.
