I wish to retract the objections over East Hampton Town residents in Sag Harbor not being able to go to Sagg Main Beach without paying a seasonal fee of $350, which is a well-kept secret in the village, as even village officials and many residents are unaware of it [“Wrong Side of a Village,” Letters, July 6].
I ran into a friend, who also lives in the East Hampton Town section of Sag Harbor, who said the fine print at the Southampton Town site, under “Long Beach only,” states that the permit for Long Beach also includes Sagg Main, Mecox and Scott Cameron beaches. One presumes that means that the permit must be purchased at Long Beach.
I extend my apology to Supervisor Jay Schneiderman.
