Safety First

I have three wishes for the new year for the safety of Southampton Town residents:

1) Children 16 and under, wear helmets while riding a bicycle, tricycle or scooter.

2) All kayakers and stand-up paddlers, wear PFDs (life jackets) while paddling. They save lives. Stand-up paddleboarders should always use a leash.

3) Cars, come to a complete stop at stop signs. “California rolls” are not acceptable. You know you are completely stopped if your speedometer registers “0” and you felt a jolt in your upper body.
