Saverio Joseph Scontrino Dies At 80

Saverio “Sal” Joseph Scontrino, longtime resident of Southampton died at Southampton Hospital on Wednesday, August 31. He was 80.

Born on March 27, 1931, in the Bronx, he was a proud member of the North Sea Fire Department for 38 years and was a past president of the North Sea Community Association. He will be missed by all who knew him, survivors said.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Jeanmarie Moustafa and her husband Ibrahim of Dubai, Theresa Inerfield and her husband Peter of Delaware and Joyce Ann Murphy and her husband Robert of Water Mill; six grandchildren and many cousins.

Visitation was held on Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 3, at Our Lady of Poland Roman Catholic Church in Southampton. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Memorial donations may be made to the North Sea Fire Department Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 1312, Southampton, NY 11969.
