Southampton Elementary School Student Council members honored members of the military and their families by placing flags on their graves for Memorial Day. It was a transformational experience for the students to see the difference before and after the placement of the flags. As they placed the flags, the students said the name of the person at each gravesite and thanked them for their service. Layla Warsaw, Ryan Janotta and Ryan Lee received Highest Honors during the 2023 Long Island Science Congress. for their research titled, “tRNA Methyltransferases: A New Hope in the Battle Against Antibiotic Resistance.” Additionally, the trio won two awards recognizing their work in the senior division: The Science Teachers Association of New York State Award and The Long Island STEM Education Leader Association Award of Excellence in STEM.
