Shirley L. Lutz Of East Quogue Dies November 18

Shirley L. (Reeve) Lutz of East Quogue, wife of the recently deceased Frank T. “Buddy” Lutz, to whom she was married for 70 years, died on November 18 at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Ms. Lutz is a descendent of one of East Quogue’s founding families. She lived on Vail Avenue most of her life and 
was the caretaker of the hamlet’s history. According to survivors, she was a proud mother of 
her two daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brightened her final days.

She worked at the RCA plant in Riverhead during World War II and then at the East Quogue Post Office. She was involved in many community activities, among them, Girl Scout leader, charter member of the East Quogue Fire Department’s Ladies Auxilary, the Suffolk County Historical Society, the East Quogue Historical Society, and many positions on the board of East Quogue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Carla Carolan of East Quogue and Jacqueline Aldrich of Georgia; three grandchildren, Timothy Carolan and wife Melissa, of New Hampshire, Kelly Lutes and husband Matt, of Washington, and Adam Aldrich of Georgia; and four great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Cody Michael Carolan and Noah Michael and Grayson Colin Lutes. She also is survived by a sister, Frances Wagner and husband Gus, of Florida; a brother, Chester Reeve and wife Phyllis, of Georgia; a brother-in-law, John Rymer of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Percy Reeve, and a sister, Evelyn Caruso.

Visiting hours were at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on Tuesday, November 20, with Ladies Auxiliary of the East Quogue Fire Department prayer services for their founding member in the evening. The Reverend George Mangan officiated at the funeral service at the East Quogue United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 21. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in East Quogue.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor.
