SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — Southampton Village Police were alerted to a stolen vehicle with children in it on November 21 at around 2 a.m. A 2015 Mercedes-Benz had been stolen out of the emergency room parking lot at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. There were two toddlers inside, ages 1 and 2. Police were able to ping a cellphone that had been left in the car and within minutes they located the vehicle on West Prospect Street, with the two children in the backseat unharmed. Jerome P. Alpert, 76, of Westhampton Beach was charged with misdemeanor DWI following a traffic stop on Mill Road on November 18. According to Westhampton Beach Village Police, he was pulled over for driving on the shoulder of the road and admitted to having one beer at a country club. Socialite Libbie Mugrabi, 43, faces misdemeanor charges of second degree menacing, felony criminal mischief in the third degree, and fourth degree possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, stemming from a case that traces back to July 31, 2022. According to Southampton Town Police, Mugrabi menaced a former employee with a knife and mop handle during an argument over payment.
