I have also read the opposition letters in The Press. I am a 67-year-old U.S. Navy Vietnam vet. I use military healthcare at Northport. While there, I have seen many who have come back from our multiple wars: World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq1, Iraq 2, Afghanistan and more. Through the ages, we do our government’s bidding. Some come back whole, some do not.

The need for this project and disabled housing is extreme. Vets of all ages need housing, as do our young and old town employees and volunteers. Mr. Fasano could build 10 of these, and it still would not be enough. He is not some “up-islander” looking for a quick profit. They are nonprofit! It also means local jobs for local people.

How many vets remember the saying: “If you’re going to talk the talk, you’d better be able to walk the walk”? How about it, NIMBY ? Do you support the troops? Show it ! Let this man proceed. It’s sorely needed.
