Susan Elizabeth Fischette
Susan Elizabeth Fischette of Southampton died at Stony Brook University Medical Center on Monday, May 16. She was 63 years old.
The eldest daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Peggy) Downer, she was born in New York City on January 29, 1948, and was raised in Brooklyn. A graduate of Fort Hamilton High School, Ms. Fischette worked as a waitress for many years in local establishments such as John Duck Jr.’s and Herb McCarthy’s. Following her marriage to Michael Fischette in 1972 and the birth of her four children, she spent many years working as a homemaker. Most recently, Ms. Fischette worked as a teller for Bridgehampton National Bank.
She is survived by her father, Daniel Downer of Florida; a sister, Carolyn Palenscar of Massachusetts; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Joey Jackson of Virginia; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nicole Fischette of Southampton; a son, Brian Fischette, and a daughter, Michelle Fischette, both of Southampton; and three grandchildren, Devon Jackson of Virginia and Anabella and Benjamin Fischette of Southampton. Ms. Fischette is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Downer.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 19, at O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass took place Friday, May 20, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Roman Catholic Church in Southampton. A private cremation followed.
