Thomas James Wheeler
Thomas James Wheeler of Sag Harbor died in a car accident Saturday, April 9. He was 43.
Born August 17, 1967, in Utica, to Robert and Frances Wheeler, he attended Pierson High School and became a carpenter. He was also well-known for his ownership of East End Prime Meats on Division Street in Sag Harbor.
Mr. Wheeler was an easy-going guy who knew not to take life too seriously, survivors said. He loved his kids very much and talked about them all the time, they added.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; parents, Robert and Frances of North Carolina; children, Thomas, Lukas and Mason Wheeler of Sag Harbor; step-children, Raymond and Kristin Pettigrew of Sag Harbor; siblings, William Wheeler and Deborah Topping of North Carolina, David Wheeler of Sag Harbor, and Gina Urban of Albany; and grandmother, “Nan,” Lucille L. Maynard.
Visitation will take place Thursday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.
A fundraiser at Pierson High School will take place on Saturday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., to raise money for Mr. Wheeler’s family. Memorial donations can be directly made to his wife at Bridgehampton National Bank c/o Linda Wheeler, P.O. Box 3005, Bridgehampton, NY 11932.
