Unscrupulous

The April 27 Southampton Press editorial “Under Attack” states: “Democracy is under attack.” In the Village of Southampton, democracy is denied to honest residents by the unscrupulous “nonresidents” who vote in village elections.

According to New York State Election Law, to register and vote, one must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, and a resident of the state and the specific locality for at least 30 days before the election. This residency requirement ensures that voters have a genuine and ongoing connection to the community in which they cast their ballots.

Addresses in the estate section have children and workers signed up as village voters. A review of these voters’ social media posts clearly demonstrate that they are not legitimate voters. This information will be provided to New York State authorities to pursue voter fraud investigations.

A Southampton Village employee who lives with his family in North Sea uses his mother’s address to vote in village elections.

This ballot box-stuffing identifies residence owners who care only about their own greed and self-interest in their support for village candidates Bill Manger, Robin Brown and Roy Stevenson. These candidates demonstrate their subservience to their wealthy benefactors by perpetuating a village tax system that allows the wealthy to underpay their village taxes, forcing the honest voters to pay more. These candidates also vote themselves noncompetitive raises and health care benefits.

This issue of voter fraud is worthy of Southampton Press investigation and reporting.

The definition of “unscrupulous” is “having or showing no moral principles, not honest or fair.”

In June elections, residents should choose candidates who have moral principles, who are honest and fair.
