Vincent M. Zorbo of Westhampton Beach died at his home on February 8, a day after his 65th birthday. Mr. Zorbo grew up in Syosset and moved to Westhampton Beach in the early 1980s. He was known to most as “Uncle Vin” and was very active with the Immaculate Conception Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Westhampton Beach Hurricanes.
He was an avid surfer and enjoyed “getting wet” with his friends for more than 30 years. He was a familiar figure on the beaches and in the surfing line-up from Long Beach to Montauk. His travels took him to California, Hawaii, Florida, Barbados, Tortola and the Dominican Republic.
Mr. Zorbo is survived by two sons, Justin Zorbo of Montauk and Chris Zorbo of Honolulu; and his parents, Fran and Gus Scutari. Family and friends said he also leaves behind many broken hearts because “to know him was to love him.”
The family received friends at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on February 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass was said at Immaculate Conception Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12. Interment followed at Westhampton Cemetery.
