The Southampton History Museum invites the community to commemorate Veterans Day with “Voices of Valor: Stories From the Next Generation” on Saturday, November 8, from noon to 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Hall in Southampton Village.
Presented as part of the museum’s ongoing exhibition “Homefront to Battlefront: Southampton During World War II,” the program brings together descendants of Southampton’s World War II servicemen and women to share memories, letters, photographs, and personal stories passed down through generations.
Through these intimate reflections, Voices of Valor honors the heroism, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served overseas and on the home front — and highlights how their legacy continues to shape the Southampton community today.
“These personal stories are the threads that connect us to our history,” said Sarah Kautz, executive director of the Southampton History Museum. “When the children and grandchildren of our veterans share their families’ memories, they’re not just honoring the past — they’re ensuring that the courage and sacrifice of Southampton’s Greatest Generation will never be forgotten. We’re privileged to provide a space for these voices to be heard.”
The program is free, though seating is limited and RSVPs are encouraged.
The museum’s pop-up exhibition “Homefront to Battlefront: Southampton During World War II” remains on view through November 29, open Saturdays only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibition explores the experiences of local men and women who served in the military and supported the war effort from home.
