Wilma M. Osterhout of Riverhead Landing apartments, formerly from Beesley’s Point, New Jersey, died on August 1.
Born to John Frederick Sr. and Ida Meyer Seaman at “Dr. White’s hospital” in Westhampton Beach, she attended both Westhampton Beach and East Moriches elementary schools, graduating from eighth grade at East Moriches and high school at Eastport High School. She was baptized at Westhampton Methodist Church and attended Sunday school and church at Trinity Methodist Church of East Moriches. In New Jersey, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Marmora.
She worked in the finance office at Northport Veterans Hospital and at W.S. Chapman, Chapman’s Garage, Chapman Supply Company and Frogs Flying Field, Lockheed, and in industrial relations at a Federal Aviation Administration experimental center in Atlantic City. She also held a real estate license. She was an avid golfer and retired the Kelly Cup at Mays Landing Golf and Country Club. She was part of the first team competing in both inter-club and South Jersey team matches.
Ms. Osterhout was predeceased by her husband, M.K. “Dutch” Osterhout; and sisters, Mary Rebehn and Marjorie Dorio.
She is survived by a brother, John F. Meyer Jr. of East Moriches; and three sisters, Barbara Pladl of East Moriches, and Dorothy Makis and Sandy Meyer, both of Westhampton. She is also survived by 10 nephews, 13 nieces and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sinnickson’s Moriches Funeral Home. On August 5, a service was held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 872, Marmora, NJ 08223-0872.
