Three buildings on Ferry Road were demolished on Monday morning by developer Jay Bialsky to make way for the John Steinbeck Waterfront Park in Sag Harbor.

The demolition on the 1.25 acres of land will also include removing a parking lot and clearing the asphalt on the property, all to be done by Mr. Bialsky as part of the terms of a contract he agreed to with Southampton Town and Sag Harbor Village. The town purchased the three parcels of land for $10.5 million in May using proceeds from the Community Preservation Fund.

Mr. Bialsky said earlier this month that the entire demolition project would take three to four days to complete.
