The sixth annual San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons will take place this weekend in Hampton Bays.
The annual celebration of Saint Januarius will kick off with a Community Light Parade through the hamlet on Friday, September 30, starting at 7:30 p.m. The parade begins on Ponquogue Avenue, and marchers will continue to Main Street, go west on Main Street to Springville Road, then south on Springville to Good Ground Road before arriving at the fairgrounds near the Hampton Bays train station.
Following the parade, the opening night party will be held under the large tent and feature beer, wine and live entertainment until 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person.
The festivities continue on Saturday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, October 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees can enjoy games, raffles, live music and Italian foods from more than 100 vendors. In addition, this year’s feast will feature cooking demonstrations and eating contests, all in the Italian tradition.
At the same time, the Hampton Bays Fire Department will be hosting a carnival on the grounds of its main firehouse. The carnival will be open during Friday’s kickoff party and be open throughout the festival on Saturday and Sunday. All-inclusive ride bracelets are $25 each.
A fireworks display, presented by Fireworks by Grucci, is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Proceeds from the festival will support Maureen’s Haven of Riverhead, the Coalition for Women’s Cancer at Southampton Hospital and the Hampton Bays High School Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit sangennarofeastofthehamptons.com.
