AFI Announces New Executive Director

Kate Fullam has been appointed the new executive director of the Amagansett Food Institute, a nonprofit that works to support farmers, vintners, fishermen, and other food producers on the East End of Long Island.

Prior to joining the Amagansett Food Institute, Ms. Fullam worked in communications and outreach for the Group for the East End, Southampton Hospital and most recently the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University.

She earned a Master of Nonprofit Administration in 2011 and she is a founding member of the Good Ground Community Garden in Hampton Bays, where she resides.

“A.F.I. turns a corner and enters the new year in great shape under the leadership of Kate Fullam,” Amagansett Food Institute Board Chairman John de Cuevas said in a statement.

The appointment is effective January 29. Ms. Fullam will replace Kathleen Masters, who served as executive director for five years, through November 2017.

“The Amagansett Food Institute’s work to promote local farming and food production nicely complements my prior experience in environmental conservation, health care, and communications,” Ms. Fullam said. “From our farmer apprentice matching and education programs to the amazing food producers leveraging our business incubator at South Fork Kitchens, I am so impressed with everything that A.F.I. has accomplished since 2012. As the new executive director, I am looking forward to reconnecting with my old friends and colleagues at partner organizations on the East End so we can work together to make a difference in our community.”
