Eastport Man Killed After Crashing Motorcycle Into Jeep In East Moriches Monday

Sep 27, 2017 8:48 AM

An Eastport man died after crashing his motorcycle on East Moriches Boulevard in East Moriches on Monday night.

Suffolk County Police said Kevin Capurso, 21, of Eastport was driving southbound on East Moriches Boulevard on his 2017 Yamaha motorcycle at approximately 6:20 p.m. when he crashed into a 1999 Jeep being driven by Kyle Botts, 18, of Manorville, who was making a left turn from Valley Drive onto East Moriches Boulevard.

Mr. Capurso was traveling at a high rate of speed, which may have contributed to the accident, according to police.

Mr. Capurso, police said, was taken by the East Moriches Community Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Mr. Botts and two of his passengers—a 17-year-old male from Eastport and a 16-year-old male from East Moriches—were also taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police did not identify the passengers.

No charges were filed, according to police, and the investigation was continuing.
