LVIS To Unveil Treasures From 'The Dunes' At Annual Luncheon

Oct 23, 2012 5:33 PM

The Ladies Village Improvement Society of East Hampton will host its 20th annual Landmarks Luncheon on Saturday, November 10, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton. This year’s event will feature an unveiling of treasures from “The Dunes,” the beachfront home of the Wilborg family. The estate, completed in 1912, originally consisted of 600 acres to the west of the Maidstone Club. The 30-room mansion and its extensive outbuildings comprised the largest estate ever built in East Hampton at the time.

Laura Donnelly, granddaughter of Sara Wilborg Murphy and Gerald Murphy, will share personal recollections of living at “The Dunes,” and unveil family memorabilia including Sara Wilborg Murphy’s wedding dress, family photos, table settings, recipes, and the study of a never-before-seen painting by Gerald Murphy.

Proceeds from this annual fundraising event benefit the projects of the LVIS. Tickets start at $75 and are available at the LVIS headquarters on Main Street in East Hampton or by calling (631) 324-1220 or by sending an email to info@lvis.org.
