Man Dies After Two-Car Accident In East Hampton On Sunday

An East Hampton man was pronounced dead after a car accident in East Hampton on Sunday morning.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Juan C. Chitarroni, 74, was driving his 2016 Chevrolet southbound on Springs-Fireplace Road at 9:38 a.m. when his car struck a 2013 Toyota traveling north.

Mr. Chitarroni was transported by ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to a police report, it is believed Mr. Chitarroni experienced a medical problem just prior to the accident.

The operator of the 2013 Toyota, who was not named by police, was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone who witnessed the accident contact East Hampton Police.
