Patricia A. Reilly Dunn died on August 13 at her home in Ridge, after a brief illness. She was 89.
Born on April 14, 1925, in Brooklyn, to Anna and Patrick Reilly, along with her twin sister, Joan M. Wrzesinski, she attended St. Anselm Elementary School and Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn. After high school graduation, she attended Professional Secretarial School and then went to work at New York Life Insurance and Bethlehem Steel Company.
She married Joseph F.X. Dunn on March 9, 1952. They moved with their three children to East Hampton in 1957, and added three more children to the family. For the next 50 years, she raised her family on Newtown Lane, and she quickly became a member of the community, joining the Ladies Village Improvement Society and becoming involved with the public schools. Survivors said she enjoyed her friends, bridge club, long days at Main Beach, nature trails and Fresh Pond. She also managed the Sea Spray Inn and worked as a real estate broker.
Survivors also said she was devoted to her family, was loyal and selfless, and a talented writer with a love for art. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cards, bingo, bocce and shuffleboard.
Ms. Dunn is survived by her six children, Christopher S. Dunn of Kentucky, Elizabeth I. White of East Hampton, Bernadette C. Danieley of California, Joseph P. Dunn of California, Margaret E. Dunn of East Hampton, and Eileen A. Moran of Merrick; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her twin sister.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F.X. Dunn; brothers, Robert and Joseph Reilly; a brother-in-law, John J. Wrzesinki; and a granddaughter, Kendra Dunn.
A funeral Mass took place at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Shoreham. Burial was at Calverton National Cemetery.
