Helen A. McDowell of Southampton died on December 8, 2017. She was 81.

Ms. McDowell was born in Jamaica, Queens, on June 25, 1936. She graduated from St. Agnes High School in Rockville Center and married Robert McDowell on April 21, 1956; they were married 27 years.

She is survived by her sons, Robert and wife Susan, James and wife Kathy, and John and wife Anne; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Meghan; great-grandchildren, Austin and Amaya; six sisters, Peggy MacDougall, Mary Bradley, Carol Sheehan, Jeanne Malloy, Susan Patten, Lorrie McHale; and two brothers, Charles Lehecka and John Lehecka. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; two sisters, Catherine Williams and Barbara Holsten; and a brother, Robert Lehecka.

A funeral service was set for Wednesday, December 13, at 11 a.m. at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Bridgehampton. Visitation was set for Tuesday, December 12, at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of May 9

Leigh Frankel, 69, of Southampton was arrested by Southampton Village Police on April 23 at 11:53 p.m. on Pond Lane and charged with misdemeanor DWI. According to police, an officer responded to a disabled motorist, and Frankel was arrested following an interview and multiple field sobriety tests. Jose Laynez Leon, 42, was arrested on May 5 by Westhampton Beach Village Police at 7:30 p.m. and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor.
