Tuckahoe School

In January, the school’s fourth-graders prepared care packages and wrote encouraging letters to the the 106th Rescue Unit, based in Westhampton, while they were stationed in Iraq. This month, those soldiers returned home and seventh- and eighth-grade students created signs that were placed around East Quogue welcoming them home.

On May 10, the soldiers came to the school to thank the students for the cards and treats they sent. Tuckahoe was presented with a flag that was flown on a mission from Iraq to Syria. As the soldiers entered the building they received a warm welcome from students and staff members. The entire school community was lined up in the hallways with banners, signs, flags and balloons. American pride was clearly displayed with colors of red, white, and blue.
