As part of the “A Greener Southampton” initiative, Councilwoman Christine Scalera has started to highlight environmentally conscious local businesses. The first to be honored by Southampton Town is New World Home and New World Barn, two sister companies located at 116 North Sea Road in Southampton.

New World Home has been nationally recognized as one of the nation’s greenest builders, having achieved historic green awards and certifications, including the first USGBC LEED Platinum Factory-Built Homes in New York, New Jersey, Long Island (East Hampton) and Georgia. New World Barn specializes in reclaiming, re-purposing and recycling authentic barn frames, beams and materials including old-growth hardwood flooring.

“We combine inspired design with best-in-class products from around the world to produce some of the highest-quality, best-performing homes in the country that foster a durable, safe and healthy environment for generations of families,” said Tyler Schmetterer, founder of New World Home.

“We’ve also created a platform for preserving vintage barn frames and antique building materials that contribute enormous eco-design value and unique aesthetic to a wide range of Hamptons-based projects,” said Bradford Goven, founder of New World Barn.

A Greener Southampton’s first initiative was a reusable bag program that Ms. Scalera called “a remarkable success.”

“I’m particularly excited to have New World Home and New World Barn as our first business to receive this recognition, as they provide both historic and environmental sustainability, preserving our past while building for our future.”
