Former Southampton resident Harvey J. Warner Jr. died December 26 at his home in Beaufort, North Carolina. He was 81.
Born in Southampton on November 25, 1933, he attended Southampton public schools until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service he began a 35-year career with the Bell System. Upon his retirement in 1991, he and his wife founded Scuttlebutt Nautical Books & Bounty on the Beaufort waterfront, of which he was the proprietor until his death.
Mr. Warner is survived by his wife, Doreen Warner; daughter, Laura Warner of Southampton; son, Douglas Warner of Southampton; stepdaughter, Katherine Robichaux of Kirkland, Washington; stepson, Robert Eisenbach of San Francisco; and three grandchildren.
