Hampton Bays Fire Department Carnival Parade Will Close Roads Wednesday Night

Jul 29, 2015 2:38 PM

Road closures may cause some traffic delays in Hampton Bays Wednesday night while the Hampton Bays Fire Department holds a parade to coincide with the department’s annual carnival.

The parade will begin at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Bays Middle School and end at the Hampton Bays Fire Department's main firehouse on Montauk Highway.

Beginning at 7 p.m., the following roads will be closed: Ponquogue Avenue between Lynncliff Avenue and Montauk Highway and Montauk Highway between the Bittersweet South exit and Flanders Road.

The roads will reopen between 8 and 9 p.m., when the parade ends.

Police officials are urging drivers to use alternate routes to avoid traffic delays.

In case you have not noticed around here we have a parade to celebrate the last parade.

I am quite upset that no contingencies were in place for the handicapped. We could not make the hike to firehouse, and were stuck waiting in cars for family members to return. Maybe next year the handicapped will be able to park closer. This is the first parade I've missed since they started way back when I was about 7 or 8.

The parade is to recognize all of the volunteers from Hampton Bays as well as all the other surrounding fire houses. These men and women not only risk life and limb, but volunteer their time to keep our community safe. Thank God

the parade is so the fireman can blast their sirens and get drunk while clogging the streets, blocking access to local businesses, and leaving the town without adequate fire coverage
