Joseph H. Bernhardt Dies July 25

Joseph H. Bernhardt, formerly of Sag Harbor, died in Ocala, Florida, on July 25. He was 68.

Born in Freeport, he was the son of Joseph and Karoline Bernhardt. The family moved to Sag Harbor in 1962, and Mr. Bernhardt graduated from Pierson High School in 1968. He later attended Southampton College and worked on the East End as an electrician.

In 1973 he married Marjorie Lang. Together they enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, and kayaking.

Mr. Bernhardt was predeceased by his wife, his parents; and his brother-in-law, Otto Gmuender. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Gmuender; brothers-in-law Thomas Lang (Ellen) and Edward Lang (Katie); and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be private.

Area Veterans Day Services Are Planned
