The Southampton Town fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of a garage fire that broke out at a Sagaponack home early Thursday, November 17, although Fire Marshal Chris Hansen said on Friday morning that the blaze does not appear to be suspicious.
The approximately 25-foot-by-27-foot structure on Daniels Lane went up in flames at about 3 a.m. on Thursday. No injuries were reported.
Members of the Bridgehampton Fire Department responded to the alarm, and firefighters took about 90 minutes to extinguish the flames, Mr. Hansen said.
The fire likely started inside the structure, although the garage itself is still standing, according to Mr. Hansen. “There wasn’t a great deal of structural damage to it,” he said, adding that some wooden shutters that were still being finished, as well as the contents of the garage, were destroyed.
Crews from the Sag Harbor Fire Department stood by at the Bridgehampton Firehouse, Mr. Hansen said.
