White’s Apothecary, a staple of the East Hampton business community, is expanding and will open a new Southampton Village location this summer.

Slated to open in early July in the space where Southampton Stationery used to be, the new store will be owned by Nyco Chemists, the company that bought White’s Pharmacy in 2013. Nyco Chemists also owns two Brooklyn stores called City Chemist.

According to Diana Ross, the marketing director for the chain, customers have been asking for years about the possibility of another store opening on the South Fork—and when an opportunity presented itself for a store on Hampton Road, the owners could not resist.

“We decided that, logistically, Southampton customers were not coming to East Hampton just for the store,” Ms. Ross said. “And then we realized that there is something lacking in Southampton, and maybe we should bring our apothecary to Southampton, and people have been very excited about it.”

Nyco bought the East Hampton-based White’s Pharmacy store in August 2013 from longtime owner Vincent Alibrandi, who still works at White’s as the pharmacist. Last year, the company remodeled the Main Street location, with a grand reopening as White’s Apothecary held last Memorial Day weekend.

White’s Apothecary is primarily a beauty and wellness boutique. The Southampton store will feature an open floor plan dedicated to makeup, skin and hair care, and lotions. The store will also have an on-site aesthetician who is certified in facials, eyebrow maintenance and consultations for skin ailments. A full pharmacy is also in store.

“There are always specialists on hand,” Ms. Ross said. “Our sales associates are highly trained. We will have makeup artists and lessons, plus special events. You are going to be getting exemplary customer service with a highly knowledgeable staff.”

Signature brands that will be sold in the Southampton store include Clay de Po, Lumiere, Creed Fragrances, and Baxter of California, among others. The store, Ms. Ross said, is being modeled after the East Hampton location, and will feature what she describes as a very “Hamptons” feel, with very clean, open lines. There will be high tables with makeup displays.

“We are beyond over-the-moon excited,” Ms. Ross said. “We are absolutely ecstatic, and people have been responding very well. It is a really fun approach to beauty—it is personal and customized.”

An added benefit to the location, Ms. Ross said, is being able to ask a licensed pharmacist and aesthetician about how certain products will affect the skin based on certain medications and reactions. The staff, she said, will also be able to offer advice for general well-being.

“We are thrilled and honored to be able to conduct business in Southampton,” she said. “And we are thrilled to have another White’s Apothecary to serve the community. We are very much a community business with a lot of fundraising and outreach programs.”
