Southampton Village Resident Files Complaint Against Police

Oct 5, 2011 12:13 PM

A Southampton Village resident has filed a complaint with the Village Police Department and said she plans to complain to Southampton Town Police as well, claiming she was harassed by officers who arrived at her home to arrest her son on a warrant.

According to Bernadette Fishburne’s complaint, officers arrived at her Hillcrest Avenue home on September 20 to
arrest her son Damario
Brunskill on a warrant. Ms. Fishburne told the officers her son did not live at that address and that she did not know where he was, but would let him
know that the police were looking for him. She said officers refused to tell her why her son was wanted, her complaint
states. She said officers accused her of lying about her son’s whereabouts and said one was “very arrogant and cocky” toward her.

Southampton Village Police Chief Thomas Cummings
said that Captain Michael
Ryan is investigating the complaint.
