Car Fire Extinguished On County Road 39

Mar 14, 2014 10:05 AM

No injuries were reported on Thursday afternoon when firefighters responded to a fully engulfed pick-up truck just off of County Road 39.

According to Second Assistant Chief Chris Brenner of the Southampton Fire Department, the call came in at 1:48 p.m. on Thursday, and first responders found the truck, which was on a flag lot off of CR-39, in close proximity to a home. Within 11 minutes, officials were able to extinguish the blaze and save the house, which only sustained minor heat damage to the vinyl siding. The car was destroyed.

Officials, led by Fire Chief Dennis Roy, were on scene for approximately 30 minutes. The Southampton Town Ambulance was on standby for the incident, but was not needed.

Southampton Town Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
