Several Westhampton Beach businesses are looking to transform the village into a candy-themed winter wonderland this weekend with the return of the annual Winterfest celebration.
The Candy Land Winter Festival is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. this Saturday, December 10, and will feature horse-and-buggy rides, holiday characters like Santa, a fake snowball fight, and plenty of s’mores, among other things.
Most of the festivities will take place on the Village Green and at the park on the corner of Library Avenue and Main Street, and several businesses will be hosting events inside of their Main Street shops.
“We thought it would be fun and festive,” said Elyse Richman, owner of the Shock stores in Westhampton Beach and secretary of the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the festivities.
Saturday’s festival will be geared toward families, with activities for all ages. Attendees can sip on warm spice wine at The Beach Bakery, enter their canines in an ugly sweater contest at Pawcasso, get color streaks put in their hair at Lillian’s Salon, and even participate in a snowball fight on the Village Green that will feature an estimated 400 cotton “snowballs.” Santa will be set up for pictures at Kerrigan Country Realty, with the horse-and-buggy rides starting and ending near the Library Avenue intersection.
Main Street will remain open during the festival.
