Cameron Prather of Westhampton Beach died on March 18, 2019. He was 51.

Born November 15, 1967, he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, and was an accomplished artisan, using fine fabric and textiles for custom wall coverings and upholstery work. His creations are part of the decor in many homes in Manhattan and the Hamptons area, Washington D.C., Cape Cod, London and the English countryside. All of the finished products—done by hand, with meticulous and labor-intensive work—were the result of his gifted, unique vision of making a room, a space, an entire house more beautiful, survivors said. Truly his life’s work was about transforming something ordinary to extraordinary, they said.

His trusted and loyal companion of 10 years, dog Lucy, is now living with a loving new family and continues to enjoy runs along the beach where she enjoyed so much time with Mr. Prather.

He is predeceased by his mother, Janet Jamerson. He is survived by his father, Gary Prather; sisters Lisa Moffitt and Stephanie Sharlet; nieces Laura and Lindsay Moffitt, Cathleen Alford; nephews Cole and Ethan Moffitt, Jordan and Ryan Sharlet.

The family will host a private memorial gathering in November in Hampton Bays. Memorial donations may be made to the East End Hospice, eeh.org.
