Elzadia Roberta Smith-Wilson of Newburgh, New York, died at the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital on July 9. She was 69.

Ms. Smith-Wilson was born in Brooklyn. Family visits to her great-uncle Samuel Steele’s farm inspired her parents in 1953 to move to Westhampton Beach, where she attended school. She graduated from Long Island University and moved to Manhattan, where she worked for many years in the fashion industry.

After her marriage and the birth of her son, she and her family moved to Newburgh.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Wilson; a son, James A. Wilson II; a brother, Sherrod J. Smith Jr. of Milwaukee; and sister, Jeanette W. Smith of Westhampton Beach. She had many nephews, cousins and extended family throughout Georgia, Alabama, Florida and California, who also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, Sherrod J. and Rosetta Z. Smith; and brother, Norris M. Smith.

A memorial service was held on July 16 at the Mount Carmel Church in Newburgh. Her ashes will later be inurned at a private service in the Westhampton Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
