Arthur C. Schumpf Sr. of East Quogue died on January 24 at Southampton Hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Schumpf was a retired member of the U.S. Army and retired from the Army National Guard after 22 years of service. He worked on a dredge for the Suffolk County Department of Public Works for 11 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; three sons, Edward and wife Jaime of Kentucky, Arthur of Southold, and Keith and wife Jessica of East Quogue; daughters, Cynthia Ranft and husband Peter of East Quogue, and Laura Ann Brewer and husband Michael of Flanders. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward J. Schumpf of Riverhead and John Schumpf of Center Moriches; a sister, Dorothy Cutherell of Virginia; and 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, George and Edward; and his sisters, Edwina Shields and Ann Eckles.
Visiting was at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on January 27. A funeral service was held on January 28 at the Westhampton United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
