Donald R. Tuttle, known as “Tim,” of East Moriches died on October 11. He was 92. Born in Center Moriches on November 28, 1921, he was the son of Alvah and Caroline Howell Tuttle. He lived most of his life in East Moriches, working for a time in Ohio and serving his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps. He returned to pursue a career in mechanical engineering at Brookhaven National Lab, where he worked for 38 years.
Survivors said he was a loving husband and father, as well as a talented craftsman, gardener and woodworker. He leaves his family and friends with many mementos of his care and craft. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of East Moriches.
Mr. Tuttle was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Louise; a brother, William; and sisters, Patricia Rumph and Barbara Howell.
He is survived by five children, Donald Jr., James, William, Gregory and Nancy; grandchildren, Stephanie VanBlunk, Andrea Pratt, Graham Tuttle, Andrew Tuttle, Beverly Looney and Jeffrey Tuttle; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kendal VanBlunk and Stephen Looney Jr.
Visitation was at Sinnicksons Moriches Funeral Home and a memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church of East Moriches on October 18. Burial was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
