East Hampton Library Announces Launch Of 'The Tom Twomey Series: Conversations With...'

Apr 7, 2015 2:14 PM

The East Hampton Library will launch “The Tom Twomey Series: Conversations With…,” a new series of twelve late Saturday afternoon programs and lectures, with the first program “Dedication of the Tom Twomey Gallery” on Saturday, April 18, at 4 p.m. The inaugural event will feature the dedication of the library’s gallery in memory of Tom Twomey.

Mr. Twomey, former chairman of the library’s Board of Managers, died suddenly this past November. “The idea for these programs came from Tom and this was his last wish for the library,” said Donald L. Hunting, president of the library’s Board of Managers. “We are so pleased to fulfill his vision and honor the memory of his extraordinary leadership.”

Each lecture event in the series will be hosted by a member of the library’s Board of Managers and will begin with a wine reception at 4 p.m., followed by a question and answer session from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.

For a full schedule of future lectures, visit www.easthamptonlibrary.org or www.tomtwomeyseries.org.

As for the late Tom Twomey, no one person has/had done more for the expansion of East Hampton's Library in its service to our entire town and its people. It is good to see that in Tom Twomey's case no good deed is going unpunished. Tom Twomey? A serious loss to our community. Truthfact1 aka Lona Rubenstein in sadness for his loss to us gratefully puts her name to this comment.

Twomey's raising $100K for the library from the will of William Dickerman combined legal astuteness with deep historical knowledge.
