Arlene F. Ochs of Southampton died at home on August 20. She was 83.
Arlene Frances was born in New York City to Mary and Walter Galeski on May 3, 1932. She studied art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and began a successful and prolific painting career. She married her husband of 60 years, Henry K. Ochs, in September 1955.
Ms. Ochs was an avid tennis player, bridge player and artist. Her award-winning Long Island beach scenes and still lifes are gracing the walls of many homes today. Survivors remember her as being quick-witted, a fabulous cook, a devoted wife and mother, as well as a great friend and supporter of her various local community interests.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Lisa Arnold and husband Rome of New York City and Southampton, Susan Kravitz and husband Howard of Huntington, and Mary Unsworth and husband Chip of San Francisco; six grandchildren, Samantha Kravitz, Ben Kravitz, Rome Arnold IV, Lane Unsworth, Gwyer Unsworth and Trainer Unsworth; and a sister, Karen Callahan of Florida.
According to her wishes, Ms. Ochs will be cremated and interment will take place privately at a future date.
