John D. Roller, a resident of Southampton since 1950, died in his sleep on September 29 at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was 92.
Born in Karnak, Illinois, in 1923, Mr. Roller spent much of his childhood in Kansas. He was raised by his mother, Bernice Martins Roller, who died in 1989. He had one sister, Mary, who died as a young child before he was born.
Mr. Roller attended the University of Kansas and served in the United States military. He found his calling as a hair stylist, serving clients for more than 50 years in Manhattan, Southampton and other locales.
Although Mr. Roller never married or had any children, he had many friends and exciting adventures during his lifetime, survivors said.
Mr. Roller will be buried on October 7 next to his mother in the Alma City Cemetery in Alma, Kansas.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
