Jack H. De Rosa of Southampton died on September 22. He was 85 and had Parkinson’s disease.
Mr. De Rosa was a military lineman in the Korean War and returned to complete his education at Pratt Institute and the Parsons School of Design. His career as a senior art director at Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborne spanned 29 years before he retired in 1994.
As a longtime resident of Sagaponack, he was known for his spectacular garden, as well as for superb cooking skills. Survivors said he was also known for his gentle kindness and generosity.
Mr. De Rosa is survived by his partner of 57 years, Donald Sachar. He was predeceased by his parents, Domenic and Mathilda De Rosa.
Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sagaponack, which he spent many years helping restore.
