Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco and County Legislator Jay Schneiderman are co-sponsoring a pharmaceutical take-back event called “Shed The Meds” on Thursday, May 24, at the David W. Crohan Community Center on Flanders Road in Flanders.
The event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., aims to keep unused and outdated medications out of the hands of children, and help protect groundwater by preventing the improper disposal of pharmaceuticals.
Community members are asked to turn in all of their unused and outdated medications, including over-the-counter drugs and hypodermic needles, so that officials can dispose of them safely. For more information, call (631) 852-8400.
