Lorri Jean Billing of Southampton died on June 16, 2018, with family by her side, at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care on Quiogue. She was 61 and died from complications of diabetes, which she struggled with since early childhood.
Born in Southampton on February 25, 1957, she was the fourth daughter of the late Hilding and Florence Billing. She grew up in Southampton, attending its public schools and Hampton Day School in Bridgehampton, from which she graduated in 1975. For many years, before her son was born in 1998, she worked with her mother at Billing’s Country Shop or one of the other Billing family’s retail stores in Southampton Village.
Survivors said that she was known for her fun-loving, care-free spirit, nurturing nature and love of animals. More than anything, she loved being a mother and was extremely proud of her son, Joseph.
She is survived by her partner of more than 25 years, Joseph L. Walker; a son, Joseph Hilding Billing; siblings, Diane McGann of Port Washington, Lin White of Southampton and Florida, Donna Billing of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Kurt H. Billing of Southampton.
A private graveside service and burial took place at Southampton Cemetery.
