A Hampton Bays man accused of driving drunk smashed his Jeep into a parked van, causing it to crash through a garage and into the family room of a Hampton Bays home early Friday morning, according to authorities.

Southampton Town Police said 40-year-old Alfred Glass was driving south on Wakeman Road in his 2002 Jeep at around 2:30 a.m. when he left the road and crashed into a 2008 Chevrolet van that was parked in the driveway of a home on Gardenia Avenue. The van then crashed through the garage doors of the home and ended up in the family room.

At the time, police said, there were people in the home, but there were no injuries.

Mr. Glass was transported by the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance to Southampton Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

He was subsequently charged with misdemeanor DWI, transported to police headquarters in Hampton Bays for processing and arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court. He was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in Riverside in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.
