John Edward McPhelin Of Hampton Bays Dies November 24

John Edward McPhelin of Hampton Bays died on November 24, 2017, at Southampton Hospital, due to complications developed from esophageal cancer. He was 73.

Born in Brooklyn, he moved to the East End when he was 19. He was a private chauffeur, driving many miles, for people who trusted that he would always get them to their destination. He was also a caretaker and known for his honesty and work ethic, survivors said. He was a caring man, who enjoyed classical music, antiques and collecting items of possible value. He was also an avid reader.

Mr. McPhelin is survived by his daughter, Bridget Christine McPhelin and longtime boyfriend Jonathan DeAgro; his wife of 19 years, Eileen; stepchildren, Brian and Jason Mazzio; and grandchildren, Lily, Sage, Sydney and Shailo. He was predeceased by a grandchild, Madison. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Harrison; and nieces and nephew, Tara, Erin, and Scott. He leaves behind his dog, Snapples.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 2, at 12:30 p.m., at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hampton Bays Public Library.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of April 25

Michael Martin, 58, of Montclair, New Jersey, was arrested by Southampton Town Police on April 22 at 1:02 a.m. on Old Riverhead Road in Northampton and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.
