Police Say Woman Used Taser In Altercation

Dec 20, 2017 11:05 AM

A fight that broke out at a house in Riverside resulted in one woman using a taser on another, police said.

Aries Cooks, 20, of Bridgehampton was arrested by Southampton Town Police at 5:07 p.m. on Saturday at Town Police headquarters and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, second-degree menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

Police said a witness told officers she tried to break up an argument between Ms. Cooks and another woman when Ms. Cooks lunged at her and tasered her in the shoulder. Ms. Cooks scratched the victim’s neck and tasered her again before chasing her with the stun gun, according to police.

When police arrived at the house on Randall Street, Ms. Cooks had left the area, but an officer recovered the weapon.

Police said they found Ms. Cooks at her home and took her to headquarters, where she was processed and released with a ticket to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court on January 10 at 9 a.m.
