Richard C. Overton of Hampton Bays died at his home on February 20, with his family by his side. He was 80.
Mr. Overton, a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War, was a member of the Hand Aldrich American Legion Post 924 in Hampton Bays. He was a sales representative for various companies and worked in real estate for local firms.
Mr. Overton is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha A. (Fraas) Overton; three daughters, Karen Lee Connolly and husband Kevin, Juliana Armusewicz and husband Tim, and Eva Marie Williams and husband Bill, all of Hampton Bays. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Lauryn Dougherty and husband Jim, Courtney Armusewicz, Kelly Ann Connolly, Stephanie and Matthew Williams, and James Richard Dougherty. He was predeceased by a grandson, Sean Patrick Connolly, and a sister, Joan Jasper.
Visitation was held on February 22 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays; Bill Reed, a close friend of Mr. Overton, conducted a brief funeral service. A private burial with Navy honors took place on February 23 at Calverton National Cemetery.
