Quogue Village Police arrested a 25-year-old Bay Shore man early Tuesday morning after they said he engaged in sex acts with a 16-year-old boy he met on the internet.
William Ellinger was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of third-degree sex abuse, all misdemeanors, according to Village Police.
Police said the parents of the Quogue teenager called them at 7:15 p.m. on Monday after discovering that their son and Mr. Ellinger had engaged in a sex act at their home.
Mr. Ellinger was taken to police headquarters for questioning and subsequently arrested there at 1:45 a.m. He was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Village Justice Court and released to Southampton Town Police, who are conducting an investigation of allegations that the defendant committed additional crimes in the town’s jurisdiction.
It was unclear whether Town Police had filed additional charges against Mr. Ellinger as Town Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa could not be reached for comment.
